Ivorian government releases fourteen (14) suspected Liberian mercenaries as four (4} perceived attackers corpses remain unknown.
The government of Cote d’Ivoire has released fourteen Liberians who were arrested on April 21, 2021 from deux plateau cocody suspected to be a part of an attack on a military in Abobo Ndotre, Abidjan.
On April 20, 2021, the government of Cote d’Ivoire reported one its military barrack was attacked by four (4) believed to Liberian mercenaries, three (3) were killed and one sustained a survey injury and later die.
According to Ivorian state security forces, a driving license, Liberian passport and a contract forms were documents believed to have been in position of the alleged attackers.
Following death and arrest of Liberians in recent days, heads of various Liberian communities in Cote d’Ivoire addressed a written communication to the Liberian embassy which called for the intervention of the government of Liberia.
On Friday, April 30, 2021 the government of Cote d’Ivoire finally release through the consistent intervention of the Liberian embassy and various Liberian community groups in Abidjan.
Although these Liberians were free from behind bars, but the corpses of the four men believed to be Liberians who allegedly attacked the army barrack on April 20, 2021 remain unknown.
Recently the government of Liberia promised to send a delegation to Ivory Coast to find out the actual circumstances that led to the attack by alleged assailants believed to be Liberians who were found with Liberian passports.
