Liberia airport authority Chief dismissed over COVID-19 protocol

Monrovia_ President George Manneh Weah, has dismissed with immediate effect the Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), Bishop John Allen Klayee.

According to an Executive Mansion Statement, Bishop Klayee was relieved of his post early Tuesday, July 6, 2021 for administrative reasons.

The Deputy Managing Director for Administration, Martin Hayes, will act as Managing Director of the LAA pending the appointment of the entity’s new boss.

In recent, there have been several reports on how wrongly the health protocols were administered at Airports of which some travelers were not tested but allowed into the country.

Workers of the Liberia’s only international airport have reportedly been without salary for several months even though the airport have been generating huge revenues.

The sacking of Bishop Klayee also bring to two the numbers of government officials who have dismissed in less than one month in connection with disregard to the country health protocols.

More that 130 persons have died in Liberia from the since the COVID-19 outbreak emerged in 2020 in Liberia.

Nearly 5,000 confirmed cases have been recorded in Liberia accounting for 13 out of 15 counties of Liberia.

More than 2,000 persons have also recovered from the virus since the outbreak.

Bishop Klay was on one occasion accused of overly employing people especially those from the ruling coalition for Democratic Change without considering revenue generation.
