Rep. Smith office has since debunked statement coming from ruling party youth league

The Office of Montserrado County District two Representative Jimmy Smith, has term as ‘deceitful, misleading information’ form the National Youth League of the governing Coalition Democratic Change (CDC) that he received US$25,000 from ANC Political Leader Alexander Cummings.

Representative Smith office said such disingenuous and horrible allegation is only intended to activate confusion within the CDC.

The CDC Youth League at press conference on August 11, 2021 called on CDC Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu to suspend Representative Jimmy Smith and subject him to investigations by the Grievance and Ethics Committee for being a master minder of sowing division in the district among partisans and undermining the Mighty CDC for personal gains and receiving US$25,000 from ANC Alexander Cummings.

They accused Representative Smith of instructing his office staff Jose Tarnue who is Montserrdao County District two secretary General of and Co-Chair of the grievances and ethics committee of the CDC Youth League to rain insults on the President George Weah, the Chairman of the CDC and other officials of government.

Rep.  Smith’s action to participate in this devilish scheme is identical to the betrayal of a party that made him after several attempts of him being a failed representative aspirant” Hassan Newland CDC Deputy Secretary General for Administration noted at the press conference.

Montseerado County district two Youth League also reaffirmed the claims by the National Youth League of the CDC.

But at news conference Monday August 16, 2021 in Monrovia, the Chief of Office staff in the office Representative Smith Alfred Tokpah said the CDC Youth League statement is a complete disrespect to Representative Smith and called on the National Executive Committee of the CDC to speedily investigate the matter and publicly discipline the precursor of what he sees as a hateful idea meant to fragment the party at the detriment Rep. Smith’s reputation.

Tokpah noted that contrary to the CDC Youth League claim, there has been no conversation of such between Representative Smith and Mr. Cummings or any other leader of the opposition community, neither has the lawmaker ever sanctioned or regulated any activity of the youth league at National or District level and view the CDC Youth League comment as a loose talk that should not be disregarded by the National Executive of the Party.

Is someone behind the youth league statement?

Alfred Tokpah sees the statement by the CDC Youth against Representative Smith as Proxy war intended to cause division within the party and to put both the government and the Party against his boss who is much involved in promoting the government pro-poor agenda.

He said the Office of Representative Smith is of aware of political manipulation by some people who sees the lawmaker as a threat or total blockage to their political survival and therefore finding every means possible to terminate the Representative or his relationship with the party.

“We are aware of rudiments in the CDC close to the ears of the President that are using such influences to undermine Hon. Smith by deliberately creating havoc between Hon. Smith, the Party and the President eying 2023 election to the demise of Hon. Smith, which of course will prove counterproductive” Tokpah noted.

Representative Jimmy Smith Chief of Office staff asserted that wonders why the Youth League as an autonomous body that takes decision and regulate itself, would chose to accused the district two lawmaker on the foulmouthed actions of Mr. Jose Tarnue who is one of their leaders in the CDC Youth League both at district and National level.

 Representative Smith is control

Is of no secret that the lawmaker is having strange relationship with CDC youth leadership within his district who on Friday August 13, 2021 backed the August 11, 2021 position statement of the CDC National Youth League.

But despite all of these, Alfred Tokpah believes that Representative Smith as fighter knows when and where to fight and is firmly in control of the district.

He said Representative Smith has proven beyond doubt his efforts to improve youth growth and transformation including CDC youth evidence by the employment of more CDC youths in position of trust within his office.

Tokpah noted that Representative Smith who is the chairman on Defense and security did not win the district on a civil platter and will not think in such direction ahead of 2023.

Tokpah Meanwhile urged Jose Tarnue to desist form publicly attacking party officials and officials of government or risk appropriate action if fails to listen.
