After few hours of protest from residents of Bilimah Community in Monsterrado County electoral District #13, The management of CEMENCO manufacturing company has assured residents of the Community, they’ll work in the interest of the People.
Resident to Bilimah, early Monday Morning, August 30, stormed the street of Japan Freeway drive in front the main gate of the CEMENCO Production and Manufacturing Company in demand of some corporate Social responsibility the Company owed to the Community.
The protest come in awake of falling fence belonging to Cemenco Manufacturing Company that has destroyed at least two Separates House apartments and injured at least five person on last Saturday.
The Bilimah protesters match to the Cemenco gate disrupting normal working activities, while calling on the Company to immediately intervene in the damage of homes of some community dwellers.
The angry residents recounted the Cemenco Management inability to provide Jobs opportunity for the community, the Construction of modern health center, School, among other things, that includes the opening of a drainage that is polluting the Community.
Billimah Community is one of the communities that is hosting the CEMENCO manufacturing and Production company has not benefited from the corporate social responsibility which the Company owed since its establishment.
Billamah Community residents further argued that due to CEMENCO inbality to give them corporate social responsibility, many of them continue to suffer health hazard and environmental pollution caused by waste from the company.
The situation however, the protest came under control when District Representative Edward Papie Flomo of Monsterrado County electoral District #15.
CEMENCO clarifies
Some residents of the Billamah quoted CEMENCO as saying arguing that contrary to their claims, management of CEMENCO has been providing its social corporate responsibility, 100%.
The management of CEMENCO also accused Billimah community chairman Mulbah Dukuley of receiving the amount of 4,000.00 United States Dollars as social corporate responsibility for the community.
However, Chairman Dukully could not response to question from LPR reporter.
Montserrado County Electoral District #13 Representative Edward Flomo said he supports the demand from the people of the Community and alarm that he is not aware of any social corporate responsibility from the management of CEMENCO to the people of Billimah Community.
He promised support the people of Billimah and other communities, who have been affected by the impact of CEMENCO cooperation production in his district until the communities get their benefits.
Rep. Flomo named CEMENCO, Duraplast Rubber Materials Company, the National Port Authority (NPA), and the APM terminal, among other Companies who have failed to meet up their corporate Social responsibility to his people.
