Minister of State without Portfolio at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs Trokon A. Kpui has stated that works on the Invincible Sports Park, up Airfields are almost complete.
The Project which has been in ruins for nearly ten months now- since President George Manneh weah did the groundbreaking ceremony earlier this year.
It can be recalled On Tuesday 9 February 2021, Africa Icon and Liberian Soccer Legend the chief patron of sports President George Weah, broke ground for the construction of a new sports park dubbed Invisible Sports Park.
The Invincible Sports park was initiated to replace – the famous Invincible Eleven Majesty Sports club known as I.E. Practice ground, near the James Payne Spriggs Field, Airfield Sinkor, as way of developing the nation through sports.
Speaking to Journalists on Wednesday, December 8, when H.E. President George Manneh Weah tour the facility, Minister Kpui- the project manager discloses that works on the facility is 80% near completion and ready for dedication in February 2022.
Initially being expected to dedicate in four months, Minister Kpui, put the cause of the delay in completion of the project, that there’s massive work that is being done.
He also said the issue of the global Covid-19 pandemic cause the major delay in the importation of materials to complete the project in time.
According to the Minister of State without Portfolio, government as part of its commitment to sports will continue with the construction of the Invincible Sports Park, which he is of strong conviction will dedicated early February 2022.
He said Liberian is expected to have a modern, and quality Sports park, like any other Sports park around the World, The Minister of State without Portfolio, who is also in charge of the multi-purpose PHP Sports park in Central Monrovia, said work has also commence at Unity Sports Park and would be ready for dedication in few months time.
It can also be recalled President George Weah, back in August 2021 broke ground for the construction of a Modern PHP beach sports park and recreation center.
Also Speaking when he tour the facility, H.E. President George Manneh Weah expresses optimism and hope for youth, when the Invincible Sports park will fully be completed.
The President express excited about the project and hope that it will soon be completed and ready for dedication.
President Weah has said his desire to construct Sports Parks in the country is to get the young people of the country playing again and aspiring for excellence in sports.
The President said as child coming up, he practice and play games at old I.E. practice ground, something he said prompted his desire to developed the place for other to benefit.
“I use to played soccer at this place, I practice with my club Invincible Eleven here, and I became the best in the world of Football, said President Weah.
He reflect: one day when I was driven along with Minister Troken Kpui and I said to he this is the area, we use to practice for I.E. and now the place have been close, the children are struggling to practice, what we can do is to developed it.
I believe in development and said If the Antoinette Tubman Stadium ATS, that wasn’t turf can produce a Ballon d’Or winners like me,” if have more turf pitches we can produce more Ballon d’Or” we can not be leader and see there’s no football field for our children to developed, President Weah said.
“We Pray to God to be developed, so that we can develop other people, so therefore having these sport parks in the country is very important, President Weah averred.
The former 1995 Ballon d’Or Winner, President George Weah, said there is modern playground being built at the Invincible Sports park to have the children happy.
“People have started asking while are said three to four months the project will be completed, but you can see for yourself, we have a Children playground for the little children to play and be happy again, those days our parents use to take us to Ghana or other countries on playground, so I saw it as a need to add a playground here for our children, so they can no longer go abroad for satisfaction, President Weah said.
We also have a religious home being built for our mothers to continuing praying and interceding for the nation, so for everytime I passby I envision something to add here to become more modernize, we need to have our country develop, the President said.
The Liberian Chief Executive also, use the time to thank partners, whom are supporting the Presidential projects, thereby describing them as heroes.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of its Completion, the basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, religious center children’s playground are all completed.
While the walk trial, outdoor gym, together with adequate sanitary facilities are near completion.
Minister Trokon A. Kpui, discloses 44 containers made of materials for the project are on the ship to monrovia, when arrived will see the first Modern Sports park Completed and dedicated.
