Consultative Meeting of the USA Chapter
of the NDC on the Outlook of the Social Democratic/Progressive Community
Toward Election-2023 and Beyond in Liberia
We the participants in the Consultative Meeting of the United States of America Chapter of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) of the Republic of Liberia, meeting on Sharon Hill, Philadelphia, in the state of Pennsylvania, United States of America,
Noting that we have converged at challenging, demanding and confusing times in the political history of Liberia;
Concerned that the protection of the image and destiny of Liberia requires our unwavering dedication, commitment and sacrifice;
Mindful of the need to continue to protect and defend the gains of the democratic struggles that have enabled multiparty participatory democracy in Liberia;
Determined to continue playing our historic role, in line with our social democratic principles and philosophies;
Understanding the need for synergy and hard work in carrying out our duties and responsibilities;
Do hereby resolve that:
The USA Chapter of the NDC will combine efforts with compatriots in Canada and Mexico to form the North America Chapter of the NDC.
We have decided and propose that the NDC participate in the general and presidential elections of 2023;
Through contesting for legislative seats in the House of Representative and the House of Senate, and contesting the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of Liberia; or
Through associating with other political parties, alliances, or coalitions to produce and promote the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates.
Toward Elections 2023, we urge the national leadership of the NDC to lead endeavors to unite the Progressive community under one umbrella, build useful capacity on the progressive front, and engage in resource mobilization efforts.
We recommend that the leadership of the NDC to reasonably and cautiously enter into negotiations with other political institutions in the Opposition for the purpose of advancing the best interest of the Liberian people and the Social Democratic community, taking into consideration the contemporary political realities;
To take concrete actions to awaken the strengthens of the Social Democratic and Progressive communities which has fought so hard to bring democracy to Liberia; and
To continue to champion the cause for social justice, political freedom, and the economic empowerment of the poor.
We Call for the rearrangement of the national and chapter structures of the NDC in line with evolving realities and the urgent requirements of our contemporary struggle.
We further urge the national leadership of the NDC to strive for continuous visibility (through media publicity and other means) and commence preparation for participation at all levels in all other future elections after 2023;
Encourage more women and youth participation in the activities and work of the NDC;
Develop workable strategies and tactics for resource mobilization in cooperation with the county and international chapters;
Be prepared to courageously struggle under all circumstances and to decisively confront evolving undemocratic situations as may be presented by the present and future government administrations;
Determine effective ways to compel official representatives of the NDC in government to perform in accordance with the Social Democratic Principles and philosophies of the NDC in the best interest of the Liberian people;
Be resolute as well to reprimand official representatives of the NDC in government for non-compliance with party requirements for serving the interest of the Liberian people;
Support and promote the cadre training and national political education programs in accordance with evolving social, economic, political, and other realities;
Review the NDC protocol (including the emblem) in the 2022 national Convention; and
Continue to make transnational efforts to build solidarity with other Social Democratic Parties and progressive institutions; and
We, therefore, do here agree that the Operational Headquarters of the North America Chapter of the NDC shall be located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, while the Administrative Headquarters of the Chapter shall be located in the resident state of the periodically selected Chairman.
