The Liberia National Police has arrested and is investigating suspect Marthaline Mark, 21, a resident of the Gbawo Town community in Paynesville for her alleged involvement into child Trafficking.
On May 28, 2022 at 2:00PM, complainant Obediah Kwehmie, 25, a resident of Flour Mill, Freeport community reported and explained that by 10:00AM of the same day, suspect Marthaline Mark came to visit her boyfriend only identified as Amara (Obediah’s neighbour) and asked for Amara’s whereabouts, but was told that he is not home and later decided to sit down and wait until he returns.
He added that, after his baby mother, Yassa Saygbe laid their baby down, she (suspect Marthaline) began playing with the Two months old baby victim, Prosper Kwehmie.
He further explained that after few hours of her stay, she (suspect) decided to buy pampers, but secretly left along with his older brother, Richard Kwehmie, 12, while their mother, Yassa Saygbe entered her room.
During preliminary investigation with suspect Marthaline Mark, she told Police investigators that on the mentioned date, she went to visit her boyfriend (Amara) whom she had been calling for the past two days, but was not answering his phone. She further admitted her likeness for the two months old baby boy and decided to buy some pampers for him, but took his elder brother to locate a shop.
Again, suspect Marthaline narrated that there were no pampers in the Freeport community, so she reached at Red-Light, Paynesville with the two children to buy some clothes for the kid.
After buying the clothes accordingly, she (suspect) paid LRD150.00 and instructed a motorbike rider to drop victim Richard Kwehmie anywhere at the Freeport community and left for Buchanan, Grand Bassa with little victim, Prosper Kwehmie.
Suspect Marthaline Mark who was arrested on June 4, 2022 in Buchanan is presently detained at one of our Zone 10 withholding cells pending prosecution.
