Faith INC Milton Community Initiative (FIMCI) has sought full participation of citizens in its efforts to achieve a cleaner environment.

Speaking during the official Lunching of Voluntary Cleaning up exercise and parade, held in Monrovia, on Friday, December 9, 2022, Rev. Princes K. Dinsea, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Faith INC Milton Community Initiative (FIMCI) Called on Citizens to take ownership of ensuring that Liberia is always clean and green.

He said keeping Monrovia Clean, the task cannot be left to only the government, but a collective effort from citizens themselves, whose feels the effects of pollution, something he said are risk to their health.

Rev. Dinsea, reiterated that the failure of service delivery to people and communities and lack of sustainable outcomes are direct results of the non-participation of the people.

According to Rev. Princes K. Dinsea despite the frantic efforts being made by the government of Liberia the full participation of every resident of Liberia is pivotal in making Liberia’s city clean and green at all times.

He highlighted that the one day, Vulneteery Cleaning up exercise and awareness, was part of efforts by the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) to encourage community participation and foster a good relationship between the two tiers of government and the communities in terms of Environmental Sanitation and Community Cleanliness.

Rev. Dinsea, stressed that the unsanitary conditions of some communities within Monrovia are of great concern and require a great sanitary awakening adding that the essence of the exercise is to assess the state of environmental sanitation across the communities with respect to waste management, streets cleaning, tertiary drainage maintenance, and community beautification.

“When sanitation conditions are poor, diseases and other health-related problems will be prevalent; according to him, it has been established by experts that the state of health of a particular location can be linked with the state of the environment of the said location. They are intertwined,” he said.

For his part the Board Chairman of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Hon. Rupel E. Marshall who graced the daylong cleaning up exercise, reaffirmed the determination of the Government of Liberia (GOL) through the administration of the EPA will create a clean and green Liberia Capital (Monrovia) and make it a livable city.

Marshall Noted that Liberians must always keep the city clean noting that cleanliness is next to godliness and urged the people of Monrovia to join hands and keep it City clean and healthy.
