According to our correspondent in the capital Abidjan, many commercial drivers described the opening of the bridge as a relief to them.

Mr. Moussa Timité, an intercommunal taxi driver to Liberia Public Radio in Abidjan that he delighted about this newly constructed bridge and  praised the government for the initiative.

“We are the happiest for those of us who do transportation; traffic reduces our profit margin because we consume more fuel in endless long lines”, he adds.

“Now I can get to Saint John or Plateau in no time. Thanks to President Alassane Ouattara who builds these bridges and roads. When the fourth bridge is available, it will also be a great relief to connect Yopougon and Plateau via Attécoubé and Adjamé”, another commercial driver added.

“My feet will blow a little on the pedals of my manual car, said with joy Françoise Kouamé, an official of Plateau.”

For Jean-Noël Kablan, a computer specialist who lives in Cocody M’Poutoh, he said that there will be no more worries about renting a taxi “Very often, traffic jams caused transport fares to go up.”

Commuters in the area said  the new bridge will surely reduce the cost of transport  for many who have been using other routes paying huge amount on the daily basic.

Our correspondent says  the bridge will further ease movement of people around the Plateau-Cocody stretch thus making some residents working from their daily work to get home a little earlier in the evenings, because  there will be less traffic jams.

The bridge is about 630 meter long of which 200 meter by gulls spanning the Bay of Cocody channel.
