Representative Marie Johnson of Grand Gedeh Electoral District 2 and Senator Thomas Yaya Nimely donated 40 bundles of high-quality zinc to victims of the recent disaster in Palmlow, Putu Administrative District.

In March of this year, a heavy storm destroyed many homes in that part of Putu District, leaving numerous residents homeless.

During the zinc presentation, Mr. Nathaniel Tarley Jr., the Home Coordinator in Representative Marie Johnson’s office, stated that she had reached out to the National Disaster Management Agency for assistance; however, her efforts did not yield satisfactory results. Consequently, she decided to purchase 20 bundles of zinc herself as a way to support the victims in their time of need.

Mr. Alex Shar, the Home Coordinator in Senator Thomas Yaya Nimely’s office, also presented 20 bundles of zinc to the town and advised the leadership of Palmlow to distribute the zinc fairly among the victims.

In response to the thoughtful gestures of the two lawmakers, the citizens of Palmlow Town expressed their gratitude, praising Senator Thomas and Representative Johnson for their compassion.

The residents described the lawmakers as caring and committed leaders who are always ready to support their community. Many expressed their appreciation for Hon. Marie Johnson’s consistent concern for the people of Putu.

The donation took place on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The residents, in their remarks thanked  Representative Johnson and Senator Nimely for this generous initiative
