The President-Elect of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has been made aware of a distressing video circulating on social media that portrays a violent assault on a woman in Red Light, Paynesville.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on Sunday, December 10, in the commercial district of Red Light, presents a deeply disturbing scene. The video shows a woman enduring severe beatings by a mob while bystanders watch.

In the footage, a man is seen attempting to force her to open her legs while she was already unclothed. Unfortunately, she lay there defenseless as she was relentlessly beaten across her body.

The Liberia National Police has confirmed its ongoing investigation into the incident to hold the culprits accountable.

The victim is said to be the mother of Tribeau Brown, the inaugural winner of the Big Brabee Liberia reality show.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Tribeau explained that her mother had visited the Red Light Market on Saturday, December 9, to buy food for the week. Tragically, she encountered two individuals who inquired about her political affiliations. When she refused to disclose her voting preference, they insulted her, leading to a gathering of others who joined in the assault.

Expressing profound concern, the President-Elect unequivocally denounces these actions as unrepresentative of Liberian values and stresses the urgent need to honor the rule of law and uphold the dignity of women.

He expressed disappointment in bystanders who chose to film the incident rather than intervene to rescue the victim from the violent mob.

President-Elect Boakai has urged the Liberia National Police and the Ministry of Justice to swiftly apprehend, investigate, and prosecute all involved in this condemnable act against the woman.

In a more positive note, the President-Elect is relieved to hear that the young woman is reportedly recovering at an undisclosed location and extends his wishes for her swift recuperation.

His office stands ready to support the victim’s family, according to reports from the USA.

President-Elect Boakai emphasizes the significance of upholding the rule of law and urges Liberians to respect each other’s rights and dignity.

Currently, Deddeh Simmon is reportedly receiving medical attention in Accra, Ghana.
