In helping to take Liberia Education System for “mess to best”, Nimba County School Board Chairman has outlined series of plan to make the system work better in the county.

Speaking to reporters in Sanniquellie on Thursday February 20, 2020, Mr. Patrick L. Lah Sr. said mechanism are begin put in place to regulate the collection of fees at public schools in the county.

Mr. Lah asserted that discussions are ongoing to abolish the collection of extra fees outside   the Ministry of Education approved fees beginning next academic year.

The county Nimba school Board Chairman added that they are trying to avoid the reoccurrence of some mistakes made previously that led to the suspension of Mr. Moses Dologbay, former County Education Officer of the county.

It can be recalled that Mr. Moses Dologbay alone with two other CEO’s from Margibi and lower Montserrado counties were suspended in late 2019 by the Ministry of Education for unruly conduct.

He further disclosed that discussion surrounding the collection of various project fees was held at the beginning of this academic year, but some school administrators went contrary to the discussion something that was one of the factor for the CEO’s suspension.

High extra fees have been imposed on students

The Nimba County School Board Chairman revealed that no school administration will be allowed to add any fees without the consent of the PTA and School Board approval, stressing that any school administrator caught doing so will be reported to the Ministry of Education for action to be taken against them.

Parents have often complained to the ministry of Education that school administrations unilaterally imposed extra fees on students outside of the MOE’s approved activity fees.
