Several items including farming tools (cutlasses and whippers) estimated at USD$875.00 (eight hundred seventy five dollars) have been donated to several community dwellers in the Clay District, Montserado County by the Gabriel Weah Movement for Peace and advocacy.

A non-governmental organization, the movement basically seeks to support and empower community dwellers in and around Monrovia who are engaged in agricultural practices and other community development projects consistent with government’s pro-poor agenda.

Making these donations to the community dwellers recently through its Chairman Mr. Benjamin Tennessee Pleewon, III, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to contribute to the welfare of the needy in several aspects of their lives.

Mr. Plewon said the Movement’s agenda principally aims to support government’s dream of breaking the chain of poverty and bring relief to the people of Liberia.

Mr. Plewon further encouraged the recipients of the donations to keep thinking positively about their country while exerting themselves to get out of the claw of poverty.

He believes poverty can be defeated when people work together collectively.

He said “together we can make our nation nobler and get away from the debris of poverty where sustained peace and harmony will prevail in the interest of all.

It can be recalled that the Movement refurbished and dedicated two prison cells at the Banjor Police zone 6 Depot #1 located in Hotel Africa, Monrovia last year.

The cells included both male and female compartments thereby creating decent environment for the inmates.
