The Special Presidential Task Force investigating the gasoline crisis on Monday February 24, 2020,  presented its report President George Weah.

An Executive Mansion Release says the report followed the conclusion of investigation into the gasoline crisis confronting the country.

The country has been facing petroleum shortages for nearly one month now but the actual cause of the shortages was not established and the president launched immediate probe into the matter.

Both National Port Authority (NPA) and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry had early given conflicting statements about the shortages with one suggesting that the crisis was prompted because the free port has not been dredged for the past two years.

The Head of the Taskforce, Minister of State without Portfolio, Trokon Kpui, is quoted as saying the report covered the alleged 60-percent discrepancy in importers’ inventory at LPRC, among others.

Minister Kpui also said the report contains recommendations for corrective measures to avoid a repeat of the gasoline crisis.

Receiving the report, President Weah highlighted the significance of the investigation and the appropriate actions to be taken based on the recommendations from the Committee.

President Weah said the report will be made public following a review.
