Ritualistic or traditional norm; Pregnant woman’s death remain secret in Gbarpolu County?

Report from Gbarpolu County says, a pregnant woman identified as Yamah Massaquoi has died on her farm after she had gone on her farm to do some works but the actual cause of death remains unknown.

  Our Correspondent in the county said traditional people warned residents not discuss the matter with anyone or risk traditional punishment.

Our reporter said victim Massaquoi placed the hook she was using into the earth to scratch but fell remain on the ground where she met her untimely demise.

The information gathered by Liberia Public Radio indicated that

Country devil and went on the victim farm and secretly buried without anyone sighting the dead body.

Our correspondent said motive behind the secret burial of the late Yamah Massaquoi remain unknown as many are wondering why country devil was involved in such death.

An elder of Gbarpolu County who preferred to be called Kollie Kamra told LPR that traditionally, when a pregnant woman Dies, a special in a town most often headed by women  take of the body for  burial and young and elderly women who have bear or bear child or children can’t see such body.

 Kamara revealed that family members of the deceased were been advised by country devil or ‘traditional zoes’ not to discuss the death of their relatives with anyone on ground that it is a forbidden.

 Meanwhile, a local Journalist in the county who disclosed the information on the radio about the death of pregnant woman was summoned by  the ‘zoes’ fence for questioning why should the death of the pregnant woman be discussed.

 Multiple sources who were contacted by LPR declined from saying any further thing concerning the death of the pregnant woman on the farm on fear that they want but said they took oath not to disclose the information of such nature.

Another local journalist who was also contacted by LPR said the death of the pregnant woman seems to be a ritualistic killing which is common in many rural parts of Liberia.
