The Assistant Minister for litigation at the Ministry of Justice Cllr. Wesseh A. Wesseh has set the record straight over the controversial indictment of Senate Secretary Nanborlor Singbe, former National Investment Commission (NIC) boss George Winser and others.

Cllr.Wesseh was recently accused of being aware of   the Liberia Anti-corruption Commission recent letter issued that it has withdrawn the case involving Senate Secretary Nanborlor Singbe and former NIC boss George Winser along other defendants.

He described the statement as ‘false and misleading’.

Minister Wesseh during a press conference at his office Tuesday said  the indictment of those Defendants stand firm and several arrest have and the matter has not  been withdrawn by the LACC describing it as being  far from the truth because they as prosecutors acted within the confines of the law.

LACC in their letter quoted part Xi section 11.4(a) which gives the commission the power to prosecute cases directly “if the Ministry of Justice for whatever reasons does not take action to prosecute a case of corruption forwarded to it by the commission within three calendar months of receipt of the request to prosecute.

However, Minister Wesseh added that the portion of LACC act was misquoted and issue of withdrawing the case is mute because the ministry of Justice acted within the 60days.

He believes that someone is misinterpreting the law to undermine the Ministry efforts in prosecuting the matter.

Assistant Minister Wesseh also cautioned George Winser the former NIC boss to stop parading with press statement and posting on Facebook that he is not part of the case.

Mr. Wisner recently posted on his face book page that he was no longer part of the indictment by the LACC.

“He is one hundred percent part of the case”, Minister Wesseh told judicial reporter.

He described the action of Liberia’s Solicitor General Syrenius Cephus as pre-judicial and besides he [SG Cephus] has been rescued from the Matter.

SG Cephus on the contrary has been on the local radio in recent time saying that the matter involving Senate Secretary Nanborlor Singbe and others has been withdrawn by the LACC something, which Ministry Wesseh clarified that the defendants have been indicted and some even arrested with the appropriate bail bonds filed.

The Senate Secretary Nanborlor Singbe and several other Defendants were indicted by the ground jurors of Montserrado County for multiple crimes ranging from theft of property, criminal conspiracy, Forgery among others. Minister Wesseh and one of the Defendants being arrested by court officer.
