11-year-old girl raper forwarded to court in Nimba

The report said after the examinations she was later placed on at least three days medication in order to stabilize her condition.

A 32- year- old man identify as Andrew Kpotoko has been charged with statutory rape and forwarded to the 8th judicial circuit court in Sanniquellie, Nimba  for allegedly raping an  girl aged 11. 

According to the commander of the Women and Children protection section at the Saclepea police details Sgt. Austin Nyouah, Andrew Kpotoko’s complaint was brought before to the women and children protection section (WACPS) by Madam Kou Dahn the mother of the victim.

According to Sgt. Nyouah, the victim is a resident of former Cocopa Camp #1 now Nimba Rubber Incorporated factory alone the Saclepea high way. 

Sgt. Nyouah told Liberia Public Radio that upon receiving the complaint on June 25, 2020, a team was dispatched and the alleged perpetrator was arrested and preliminary investigation conducted as he was charged with ‘Statutory Rape’ and later sent to the Saclepea Magisterial court.

The head of the Women and Children protection section the police detail further mentioned that the Saclepea magisterial court also transferred Mr. Andrew Kpotoko to the 8th  Judicial circuit court in Sanniquillie city awaiting appearance in court. 

Sgt .Nyouah used the occasion and called citizens of Saclepea and its environs to always report any rape case assuring them of fair free, fair and transparent justice.

Recently, the coordinator of the Ministry of Gender in Nimba County Madam Yah Belleh Suah alarmed of increasing rape cases adding that Nimba as a county recorded about 39 rape cases in five months period from January to May 30, 2020.
