Paddle to Engine: Pres Weah presents several motorized Yamaha Boat engines to fishery cooperatives

Weah said the donation is part of his government way of contribution to the improvement lives in the country.

Buchanan – Grand Bassa County-President George Manneh Weah, has recommitted himself to developing Liberia, as he applauds Liberians for maintaining the peace, which is the first tools for development.

“I see you all thanking me for development, it is not me, I should be thanking you for maintaining the peace which the first step for development, it’s the peace we have today, that you can see development, but without peace, there can be no development so i therefore thank you first for maintaining the peace and for you to make me your president.

President Weah on Saturday said no democratically elected government since 1847 has achieved what his administration has done in three years, and vowed to transformed lives of everyone  Liberian through  his Pro-poor-developmental agenda.

“Liberia Will see what it has never seen before “under my administration as a president of this country, it’s my goal to see this nation, develop, i’m the talk and do, i talk and my actions is implemented President  Weah said.

In my three years, Liberia is getting better and Liberia will get better, it’s  my mission to go out and advocate and built Liberia.

The president, during the National Fisheries and Aqua-culture Authority (NaFAA) official launched of the “Paddle to Engine Initiative” in BUCHANAN when Motorized machines were turned over to fishing Corporation operating in Liberia’s nine Coastal Counties, said the initiative by his government has greatly transformed the fisheries sector which is part of his administration’s goal of improving the lives of his people as well as creating jobs for the citizens.

According to the President, the goal of his administration Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) is about improving the lives and livelihood of citizens, by lifting them from Poverty to Prosperity.

President  Weah said, he had a vision and a mission, and his vision  was to become president, therefore he is on a mission to developed Liberia,” I had a vision and mission, and my vision was to lead, and now my mission is to develope Liberia.

I have fulfilled my vision through you,” you have elected me as your president, it was my vision, and now my mission is to developed and complete my mission, the President told the large crowd in Bassa.

The Liberian leader also stressed that he will do all in his power to advocate for the people of Liberia to have better lives, so that their status must change.

The President said the launch of the outdoor fisheries motor will help boost the fisheries sector and will smoothly enhanced  the operations of fishermen.

“This initiative will have significant impact on the fisheries sector and help improve the lives of different  authors, the President said. He said the outdoor fishing  motor came after he had lobby in Japan to better the lives of his people.

“This project came after I made Liberia’s case on your behalf in 2019 in Yokohama , Japan and I am glad that today is a clear manifestation of my advocacy for my people “, the president told the gathering.

The President at the occasion thanks the National Fisheries and AquaCulture Authority (NaFAA) for the successful executions of these very important projects, he urged (NaFAA) to established an effective maintenance management team to carefully maintain the outdoor fishering motors. He at the same time encourage fishermen to take good care of the equipment for the betterment of the society.

For her part, the Director General of the National Fisheries and AquaCulture Authority (NaFAA) Emma Glasco commended the Japanese government for supporting the potential sector of Liberia. She said the sector is very key to economic growth because it helps in creating jobs for the underprivileged.

Madam Glasco in her statement said Motorizes engines are intended to help transform the lives of the local fishermen through their various fisheries cooperatives organized with the help of the Cooperative Development Agency CDA.

She said the outdoor motorize engines launch is a clear manifestation of a promised fulfilled by the CDC led government through president George Manneh weah to the local fishermen who have over the decades used paddling canoes to fish and support their various families.

The NaFAA boss asserted that “now is the time for the local fishermen to be among those using motorized engines so as to increase their catch, supply more fresh fish to the local markets through the fishmongers and give all Liberians the opportunity to consume fish on a daily basic through affordable means”.

At least 400 Yamaha Motorized Engines was distributed to fisheries Corporative entities on saturday in Bassa, representing the excited beneficiaries, who spoke to Liberia Public Radio, E.Slewion Nimely lauded the efforts of the government of Liberia for the gesture which has now transformed the sector and will help increase fish production, safety ,less pain, stress and improved livelihood for fishermen.

Also speaking at the occasion, Managing Director of SOPERKA Sidy M. Kandji said at least 25,000 safety jackets will be distributed to fishermen across the nine coastal Counties, Kandji said the gesture is his company’s way of supporting the sector as well as buttering the efforts of the Weah led administration.

In remark, World Bank country manager Khwima Nthara disclose that about 40million United states dollars approve by World Bank has been donated to improve the fisheries sector of Liberia.

Nthara said the World Bank will continue to work with the Government of Liberia in whatever means to improve the livelihood of Liberian.
