Ivorian government vows to maintain gasoline and diesel prices despite war in Ukraine

The government of neighboring country, Cote d’Ivoire has disclosed in Abidjan on Thursday, December 1, 2022 that the prices of super, gasoline and diesel remain unchanged as the previous month (November) at 775 FCFA and 655 FCFA per liter respectively for the period from December 1 to 31, 2022.

According to an information obtained by our Correspondent based in the Ivorian commercial capital city, Abidjan on Thursday, December 1, 2022 noted that the liter of premium-unleaded gasoline is maintained at 775 FCFA (US$1.18 per liter and diesel at 655 FCFA (US$1).

Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy also stated that a bottle of cooking gas, prices also remain unchanged for this month of December 2022.

The price of the 6 kg gas cylinder is maintained at 2000 (US$3.05) FCFA and that of 12.5 kg at 5200 FCFA (US$7.9) respectively.

The adjustment of pump prices for fuel in Côte d’Ivoire and bottles of gas is done each month in accordance with the provisions of the automatic mechanism for the price of hydrocarbons on the international market.

The government further stressed that to mitigate the negative impact of global inflation in Côte d’Ivoire the State has granted a subsidy of around 500 billion FCFA (US$763.3million)  since the beginning of 2022 for fuel.

Prices of petroleum products have been skyrocketing in West Africa and around the world due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
