An American Professor of the University of Washington Bothell in Tacoma City has assured ‘building further connections abroad’ to support and improve the ‘Peter Quaqua School of Journalism’-PQSJ in Monrovia.

Professor Min Tang, a lecturer of Media and Communication Studies, Global Studies, School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences also expressed interest in co-teaching with local media trainers at the journalism school.

According to a release, Professor Min gave the assurance after a Direct Video Conference (DVC) between MediaAid Founder/Executive Director, Titus Tokpah and some journalism students at the University of Washington Bothell.

The American Lecturer also disclosed that the students enjoyed the DVC with the MediaAid Boss which focused on “how to build a journalism portfolio”, and the class was curious to know what is like reporting in West African countries.

During the Video Lecture, Titus Tokpah emphasized the importance of the media “giving voice to the voiceless” and the universal problem of silencing or censoring the Press.

The partnership between the ‘Peter Quaqua School of Journalism’-PQSJ and the ‘University of Washington Bothell’ in Tacoma City is a result of the US State Department’s International Visitor’s Leadership Program-IVLP attended by the MediaAid Executive Director early this year.

Named after former President of the Press Union of Liberia, the Peter Qua Qua School Of Journalism was established in 2014 by Liberian journalist Titus W. Tokpa, Jr. and has trained several young journalists since then.
