Several farmers in Nimba benefit tools from local development group

In helping to ease the tension on government, a local development organization known as Zor Development Association (ZDA) has donated assorted farming tools to eight farming groups in Zor clan, Gbeh lay Geh statutory district in District#3 Nimba county for agricultural activities in the area. 

Zor Development Association is a conglomeration of sons and daughters hailing from the 18 towns that make up Zor clan residing in various parts of Liberia and the diaspora. 

The group which was officially launched in November 2019 in Zorgowee Town is a non for profit and non-political institution with aim of helping its citizens develop and make them to be self-reliance in terms of food production. 

Items donated recently include cutlasses, sharpening files among others.

The items were donated to eight farming groups currently working in the eighteen towns. 

Several farming groups; Zorgowee farming group, Zorgonpa framing group, Zortapa framing group, and Kpolay farming groups benefited from the gesture.

 Others are the Nyantuo farming Dulay farming and Sehtontuo farming groups. 

ZDA CEO Benedict Y. Quato  disclosed that the donation of the farming tools was intended to empower the farmers to cultivate cassava, corn eddoes and Bean farms for quick harvest, adding that the produce from the farm will be taken to the market and proceed will be given back to the community for onward development purposes. 

Mr. Quato spoke through the organization’s communication Director and the M & E officer who made the donation on behalf of the institution.

He at same time called on the beneficiaries to take the work seriously and continue to collaborate to ensure that they succeed in their quest to promote food security in Nimba County.

Meanwhile the ZDA officials have also  promised to invest into the farmers only if they see their seriousness and commitment of the local farming groups.

Receiving the items at their various working sites, the groups lauded ZDA for their farsightedness and promised to work in unity to ensure that their goal can be achieved to make their clan second to none in food production. 

The farmers admonished ZDA for more such initiative in the future and pledged their willingness to work harder.
