The Disbanded Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Organization has offered to provide 2,000 men under the umbrella of the Liberian Government for peace keeping mission in the West African Sub-region and the world at large.

According to the Chairman of the Disbanded Soldiers, Rt. Cpt. Jerry K. Kollie, more than 15,000 men of the Armed Forces of Liberia were professionally trained to protect and defend the territory boundary of Liberia, but they were disbanded unconstitutionally after the end of the Liberia Civil War.

Cpt. Kollie stated that the Accra Peace Accord document which ended the Liberia Civil War indicates that the Armed Forces of Liberia should be restructure and not disbanded which was not adhere to by past governments.

Cpt. Kollie made the statement Thursday August 20, 2020 when the new leadership of the organization was inducted into office to stir the affairs of disbanded soldiers in Liberia held at its head office in Monrovia.

He pointed out that if members of the disbanded soldiers are giving the opportunity to serve their country through peace keeping mission abroad, it will  go a long  way  to transform the socio and economic of the soldiers  and the nation as whole.

He noted that  the disbanded soldiers have spent  their youthful time in the Armed Forces of Liberia over the years until the war erupted, however, some of them are still strong and have the experienced and professionalism of combating  in a war zone.

Cpt. Kollie stressed that the new leadership of the organization will engage the current government constructively for their just benefits rather than engaging into anti-government activities in the country.

He assured that the organization would help to maintain peace and security in the nation, noting that the peace in Liberia is still fragile and every Liberian should ensure that the country remains stable.

Cpt. Kollie narrated that the door of the organization is open to the National Bureau for Veterans Affairs to collaborate in addressing issues confronting disbanded soldiers in Liberia.

Those inducted are Cpt. Jerry K. Kollie National Chairman, Rt.1Lt Daikutoo Zaza Co- Chairman for Administration, Rt. Cpt.  Prince Ford Co-Chairman for Operation among others.

However, security experts in Liberia say the request by the ex-soldiers may not be granted as they have already been disbanded and the government no longer have trust in them.

Over 5,000 ex-soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia were disbanded after the signing of the Accra Comprehensive Peace Accord in 2003 that brought last peace to the country.
