A Liberian humanitarian and philanthropist, Dr. Daniel E. Cassell has awarded a four-year each university scholarship to the children of the deceased auditor of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Albert Peters.

Dr. Cassell is the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Dr. Cassell’s Foundation in Liberia.

Similar gesture was awarded to children of another fallen Liberian auditor Gifty Lamah who mysteriously died along with Albert Peters in a parked vehicle on October 2, 2020.

It can be recalled that on Thursday, October 2, 2020, the lifeless bodies of the Assistant Commissioner for Internal Audit and acting Manager for Tax Payers of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Albert Peters and Gifty Asmah Lama, were found in a vehicle on Broad Street in Monrovia during the early morning hours.

The gesture to the children of Albert is an extended of a previous scholarship awarded to his younger child at the secondary level.

Making the presentation on Christmas Eve in Monrovia, Dr. Cassell disclosed that his move to identify with the widow and children of the fallen Liberian auditor was based on Christian principles and patriotism.

He told the Front Page Africa that  Mr. Peters lost his life in a very “tragic, mysterious and unexplained circumstance”, and as such, it was prudent to help reduce some of the financial burden on his widow by shouldering the cost of his children university studies.

“While there’s absolutely nothing that can be said or done to remove the deeply felt pain of losing their beloved husband and dad, I do believe that coming to the aid of a fellow citizen during a period of crisis and grief is a noble, Christian and patriotic thing to do”.

“In this spirit, I extend 4-years of university scholarships to both children in addition to the last year of high school scholarship to the younger child”, Front page Africa quoted Dr. Cassell as saying.

For their part, the beneficiaries commended Dr. Cassell for taking full responsibility of the cost of their university studies.

They, however, prayed for God’s blessings and guidance upon the lives of the Liberian philanthropist and his family members.
