The Government of Liberia through the Central Bank of Liberia has broken grounds for the construction of a regional bank in Gbarnga to help elevate the many challenges facing the banking sector of the region.

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony, Central Bank Governor, J. Aloysius Tarlue, Jr., said the  construction of the bank will help solve some of the difficulties facing the banking sector of the county.

Governor Tarlue than put the total cost of the project at little over US$ 400,000 adding that it will help ease some of the challenges the banking sector of the Country is face with in the region.

He said, the government will work with the contractors to ensure that the bank is ready for dedication for this year’s July 26 celebration.

Also speaking Bong County Superintendent Esther Walker lauded the efforts of President George M.  Weah and the CDC Government for the timely initiative while challenging the contractors to remain focus in making sure that materials that are brought for the construction are secure for their smooth operation.

For his part, Bong County Electoral District number three Representative, J.  Marvin Cole said, he will work with the Executive Branch of government in bringing the needed development in the county.

Experts say the construction of the regional bank under the auspices of the central Bank of Liberia will greatly help alleviate some of the difficulties government workers face in accessing cash from the commercial banks.

With just 9 commercial banks and their few branches across the country, Liberia is currently facing serious cash crisis for which many customers are unable to get money especially during the holiday seasons.
