500,000 Ivorian youths to benefit from technical training in agriculture production

The Ivorian government through its Prime Minister, Patrick Achi has  announced  that  what he considers as a ‘’vast training program’’ for 500,000 young people between ages 15 to 25 years old in the areas of agriculture, animal production, fishery resources and the agro-food chain, in order to make these sectors the spearhead of the national economy.

The prime minister made the statement during a high-level meeting with professionals in agriculture, animal production, fishery resources and the agro-food chain to identify their needs and expectations in order to provide sustainable solutions.

“From September 1, 2021, the first pilot projects will be set up in each of these sectors throughout the Ivorian territory, these young people by the thousands, will be deployed in the mango, pineapple, cocoa etc. sectors so that they become second generation young farmers, “said Patrick Achi.

For the Prime Minister, the fight for production is over and it is now time that the fight for what he termed as ‘’added value’’.

‘’This, through the acquisition of technologies, the construction of research centers, the conquest of markets, etc. he noted.

The Ivorian government expressed his wish to strengthen confidence between the private and public sectors.

He recalled that the declared would of President Alassane Ouattara to make the private sector the spearhead of a united Ivory Coast where peasants will be transformed into farmers.

According to our correspondent when the project is fully implemented producers will be transformed into first and second transformation processors and there will be national champions capable of going to foreign markets and fighting with competitive products.
