Reviewing PADP agenda: President Weah and delegates in Ganta for 3rd Cabinet retreat

President George Manneh Weah and members of his cabinets, on Saturday July 9, 2022, kickoff a week-long visit to the northeastern part of Liberia as part of a 3rd Cabinets Retreats from 9-13th July 2022 in Ganta City.

It is  being held under the theme, “pushing forward for a better Liberia”.

The four-day per  national cabinet retreat began with a stopover in Kakata, Margibi County, where the president dedicated the “ One Stop”Shop Kakata Service Center refurbished by the Ministry of Transport with support from the World Bank.

In Kakata, Margibi, President Weah received  a resounding welcomed from Margibians and commended them for working with his  government and partners in the realization of such a success and as  demonstration of strong commitment to realizing the service center.

 “We have come a long way and still need to do more development”, he added. He urged the citizens of Margibi County to take ownership and feel a part of the progress made collectively together with the government.

He thanked the Ministry of Transport for the initiative noting that it aligned with the government’s decentralization agenda. 

President Weah further said the erection of the Service Center is one of several proofs that his Government’s unfeigned commitment to  working in the interest of the Liberian people.

En route to Ganta, Nimba County along with a throng of cabinet members for  retreat aimed at repositioning Government’s development priorities, President Weah, received heroic welcome from citizens of Bong County, and praised them for their dedicated supports toward  the CDC’s government.

Onward to Ganta, Nimba County, before arriving in its main Gompa City, the President  had a brief stop in Paw-Paw Village and near Gbain, where the Liberian leader dedicated a separates housing units.

On his arrival in Gompa City, President Weah along his cabinets received huge ovations from Citizens of Nimba and resounded volume of Nimbians support towards his second term bid of retaining the Country top seat as President of the Republic of Liberia ahead of the 2023 General and Presidential Elections.

President  Weah urged Nimbians to put Liberia first in their social and political involvements, adding that the huge gathering crowd shows that Liberia is bigger than anyone’s political desires, and that working together is far more greater than undermining it’s development.

The Liberian Chief Executive informed Nimbains that Liberia is the only country ‘they have ‘and that each citizen must strive for peace and harmony.

Reviewing PAPD’

Meanwhile, the four-day will review Government’s priorities, develop an agenda from there to drive the Administration, while also featuring discussions and presentations on the implementation status of the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD), zooming specifically on the National Economy, Revenue Generation, Aid Management and Coordination, and the President’s 2022 Legislative Agenda.

According to the retreat agenda, it will also place particular focus and emphasis on issues of accountability and transparency in government, while Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions (MACs) will report to the President on their achievements and plans. President Weah is also expected to hold separate meetings with MACs, beginning monday.

Regaining Public confidence 

Allegation of Corruption and mismanagement of public funds have recently racked the Weah’s administration in the last few years.

Weah is opting to seek a second 6 year term in office as he and his supporters continue to boast of number of developments as reason for his 2nd term bid.

President Weah and his cabinet are making efforts to regain confidence fromLiberians having spent 4 and half years in office with skyrocketing commodity prices.
