Liberia narrowly passes Millennium Challenge Compact scorecard

Liberia for the first time since  the Weah administration came to power in 2018 managed to pass the Millennium Challenge Corporation report. 

In 2018 Liberia passed 10 out of 20 of MCC scorecards. 

The United States government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation released its fiscal year 2023 Country scorecards on November 3, 2023. 

 This year’s  MCC created scorecards for 81 countries and Liberia is among 28 countries that passing the mark while 53 others failed to pass. 

The CDC led government pass the Compact scorecard at the time the country is preparing for a heavily contested elections in 2023 in which George Weah government has been seriously criticized for doing little to improve the lives of the Liberian people. President Weah is however seeking re-election.

The latest scorecard shows that Liberia scored 12 points out of the 20 points indicators which is a passing mark.

Indicators 

The MCC scorecards measure performance on the policy criteria mandated in MCC’s authorizing legislation. By using information collected from independent third-party sources, MCC’s country selection process allows for an objective, comparable analysis across candidate countries.
