Amid mysterious deaths; Liberian Women demand an immediate end to violence

The women have petitioned the legislature calling for immediate to mysterious killings

Cross section Liberian Women under the banner  ‘Women of Liberia’  are demanding an immediate  end to what they say is a growing wave of violence against them.

The women said, they are living under fear and unprotected as the results unexplained death around the nation.

They spoke Thursday March 2, 2023, when they sympathized with the Former Chief Justice of Liberia Gloria Musu-Scott for the loss of her daughter during recent brutal robbery  attack on her home the in Brewerville outside Liberia capital Monrovia.

Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Director of the Women-Non- Governmental Organizations Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL), Esther Davis Yango, said it is unfortunate that Liberian Women continue to be attacked and abuse in several without any justice for the victims, while urging Liberian Women to demand justice for the murder of the Former Chief Justice Scott daughter and others who have been killed.

Madam Yango wants Liberian Women rise up to ensure that their lives are protected which she noted is their rights under the Liberia.

also speaking, Noble Laureate, Leymah Gbowee said it is time for women in the country  to pray for God to protect them against several attacks and to ensure peace and stability for the nation.

She stressed that Liberian Women should stand in solidarity with the Former Chief Justice Scott and they should continue to visit her during this critical time.
For her part, the Chairperson of the National Civil Society Council of Liberia, Madam Loretta  Pope-Kai said as movement they will continue to stand for justice, peace, equality, and that violence was no longer.

Madam Pope-Kai stressed that actions should be taken against the perpetrators for the several killings around the country.
” We will not sit and normalize violence on women, we will not keep silence when one of us are hurt, you touch one, you touch all, we are here to reaffirmed and continue to say enough is enough, no to violence and no to war on women” She added.

In a related development, the Chairperson of the Women Legislative Corcus, Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence has empathized thousands of Liberian women for their  protest in demand of protection and justice from the relevant authorities.

Senator Lawrence stressed that women should take charge of their plights to ensure that they and their children are protected against untimely death.

The Liberty Party Political Leader noted that the current justice system under the leadership of the Justice Minister Musa Dean and the Police Inspector General Patrick Sudue lacks the capacity to protect lives and properties
