NEC begins hearing Montserrado  County District # 15 by-election dispute under tight security

The National Elections Commission (NEC) on Wednesday August 7, 2019 began hearing into complains filed  into  District#15 Montserrado County bye-election result.

 

The election which was conducted on July 29, 2019 came as a result of the death of Representative Adolph A. Lawrence who died in a fatal car crash on March along the Roberts International Airport highway.

The hearing into the matter is being presided over by NEC hearing officers Cllr Muana Ville, Joseph Blidi, Anthony Kromah and Annie Broadrick Ville.

Twenty persons comprising technical experts including some residents of district#15 as well as complainant Miss Urey are serving as witnesses into the hearing.

Taking the witness stance in a cross examination process by both teams of lawyers, Miss Telia Urey, disclosed that there has been discrepancies in the final registration roll given her poll watchers and as well as NEC workers on the day of voting.

Miss Urey added that NEC could not present the sources of result at the Samuel T Koon School and Blamo Town in District 15, Montserrado County which it announced that the two precincts were part of the tallying processes.

For his part, the complainant second witness, Augustine Fredrick, disclosed that frauds discovered were committed in the Information, Communication and Technology of NEC.

According to Mr. Fredrick, Polling Precinct Number 32036 , which was said to be located at the Samuel T Koon School could not be located.

He also added that the NEC has 39,060 voters on the website while it has 39,360 voters on the final registration roll.

The Collaborating Political Parties were represented by Counselors Lavila Supuwood,   Samuel Sasey and David Gibson while the National Elections Commission was represented by Counselor Alvin Teage.

The CDC candidate in District 15, Montserado County by elections, Abu Kamara, was represented by Counselors Jonathan Massaquoi, Dempster Brown, and Phil Dixon.
