Aggrieved residents in Upper Caldwell ransacked the home of Monrovia City Police Director, Thomas Gawou for allegedly harassing them during the observance of the State of Emergency.

Speaking to OK FM via mobile phone Monday, the aggrieved residents’ spokesperson Lorina Koffa said, they ransacked the home of the MCC Police Director because he is in the constant habit of harassing peaceful citizens in their community.

Madam Koffa narrated that the latest incident occurred when the son of their community chairman was allegedly arrested in Caldwell by Director Garwo on grounds that the boy was in violation of the State of Emergency.

She added that at most times, the MCC Police Director fired bullets in the air as a means of instilling fear in community dwellers.

When contacted, MCC Media Officer Pekeleh Gbuapaye, confirmed the attack on the home of the Monrovia City Police Director, adding that, the aggrieved residents should channel their grievances through an official communication to Monrovia City Mayor.

The Monrovia city police is not part of joint security spelt out in the 2011 national security act.

The MCC and PCC are part enforcing the current three weeks state of emergency declared by president George Weah in early April.
There have numerous reports that state security have been harassing peaceful residents of Monrovia under the canopy of enforcing the 3 weeks state of emergency and a 14 days lockdown.

At least 6,000 people mainly youth have been recruited by the Monrovia City Cooperation as COVID-19 contact tracers across Montserrado County but many residents of Monrovia have since raised eyebrows on grounds that the MCC should have rather been focus on cleaning instead it recruiting people with no health care background.
But MCC Mayor Jefferson T. Koijie has said the contact tracers were trained by National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) in collaboration with city hall.
