Philip Bestslow, son of Bong County Superintendent Esther Nyemah Walker has come under the spotlights for the alleged raping of a 13-year-old teen-ager in Gbarnga.  

According to report, the offensive act allegedly demonstrated by the 24 years old man occurred on July 26, 2020 on the Gbarnga -Dementa road with Superintendent Esther Walker believed to be in the house during the night of the incident. 

The rape survivor is said be a resident of the Bassa Community with her parents in Gbarnga, Bong County. 

Meanwhile, the Foundation for International Dignity –FIND Executive Director Aaron G.V Juah-Kollie addressing a news conference on January 2, 2021 in Bong expressed deep concern over the constant delay in the sexual offense   speedy investigation by the LNP. 

FIND Boss told reporters that after the act, it was immediately reported to the Liberia National Police Women and Children Protection Service on the 28 of July 2020 but it is  that since then the LNP is yet to launch investigation into the scandal.

 Juah-kollie asserted that if nothing is done about the rape matter it will be considered as selective justice, stating that as the saying goes, “justice delay is justice denial”.

When contacted on  January 4, 2020 Assistant Commissioner of Police Fredrick Nappy averred that it is last year issue stating that Sup. Walker Philip Bestslow is wanted by the Liberia National Police for nivestigation.

Commissioner Nappy asked members of public to inform the police  about his where about.

But contrary to the Police Executive assertion, Philip is  always seen driving his mother Madam Esther Walker vihecle in Gbarnga but is yet to be arrested for further investigation.

But according to credible sources closed to the girl parents and the LNP central office in Gbarnga, Superintendent Esther Walker in some part of 2020 allegedly invited traditional leaders and other stakeholders in the county to plead with the rape survivor parents in order to comprise to avoid prosecution of her son.

Local leaders wonder

At the same time, several opinion leaders of the County have expressed shock over the incident and wondered while will the survivor mother who earlier on took her child to the hospital for check –up and later at the police station for further investigation will refuse to talk to the press regarding the matter. 

A medical report, dated July 27, 2020, proved that Philip Bestslow allegedly raped the 13 years old girl on July 26, 2020 following thorough medical examinations conducted on the survivor at the C.B Dunbar maternal hospital in Gbarnga.

The report said after the examinations she was later placed on at least three days medication in order to stabilize her condition.

The office of Superintendent Esther Walker is yet to formally comment on the rape allegation  involving her son.
