Barrack Young Controller was left frustrated by series of saves inspired by Monrovia Club Breweries goalkeeper Samson Giddings and the woodwork as they were held to a goalless draw at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Wednesday, April 17.

Ketu Jerbo hit the woodwork (goal post) twice on 17th  and 30th  minutes before Trokon Mylers forced a brilliant save from goalkeeper Giddings from six-yard out in the 40th minute

Club Breweries’ goalkeeper Sampson Giddings made spectacular saves as substitute William Freeman was denied from eight-yard out for corner in the 88th minute.

Former BYC forward Robert Taylor missed a couple of free headers in both halves for his side Club Breweries.

Barrack Young Controller returning at the ATS after their 3-0 home win against Nimba FC, they were eager to open the scoring in the early exchanges but it was up to the 17th minute that Ketu Jerbo’s strike from 12 yard after Samir Kamara’s delicious cross found the winger who brought the ball down coolly before subliming half volley hit the woodwork.

On the half hour mark, Jerbo appeared to be frustrated for an effort that hit the woodwork once again. The winger received an overhead cross from James Walatee and he fired in a curling effort that hit the crossbar.

Club Breweries who were suffering to grab the pace of the match almost paid the price for sluggish defending in the 40th minute, but needed goalkeeper Giddings’ quick intervention to brilliantly keep Mylers’ effort from six yard out.

BYC almost took the lead through Mohamed Varney from inside the area after Daniel Woto lovely cross met the head of the forward, who wasted the chance in the 42rd minute.

Soon after Varney’s terrible miss from inside the penalty box, Club Breweries found energy from somewhere and it was former BYC man, Robert Taylor, who almost gave them the lead from right over the box but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Abdulai Koulibaily in the 53rd minute.

Two minutes later, Club Breweries had a goal disallowed for offside after Mitis Mulbah fired home a beautiful effort that appeared to be on-side but the assistant referee flagged for offside.

The Beer Boys almost took the lead through Taylor but the forward missed a free header from close range after Justice Abakah’s cross found the forward in the box in the 68th minute. Then Taylor had another free header in the 84th minute from substitute Tony Weah but his header was saved by Koulibaily.

The keeper made a spectacular full-stretch save to brilliantly keep Freeman’s strike out to grab a point for his side in the added time.

In the day’s first match at the ATS, Watanga FC was defeated 1-0 by Jubilee FC.

Nimba FC secured a 1-0 victory over high flying LISCR FC in Ganta City while in Kakata City, FC Fassell got her first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over NPA Anchors, in the second game at the same venue Small Town FC dragged Keitrace FC 3-0.

At the Dorris Williams Sport stadium in Grand Bassa County, LPRC Oilers overpowered Nimba United 2-0 to move at the top of the table with 24 points Followed by BYC with 22 points.
