Gunners FC of Foya Statutory District, wins LFA U17 female League

Foya-based Gunners FC has been crowned champion of the Liberia Football Association U17 female League in Foya, Lofa County.

Gunners FC on Sunday September 5, 2021 lifted the trophy at the end of an interesting exhibition fixture between them and All-stars female soccer team which ended goalless.

Gunners FC ended the league at the top of the seven team table with 14 points

The exhibition match brought together sports lovers, local County stakeholders, supporters, and sympathizers from across the County.

The acting Chair of Liberia Football Association Lofa Sub-committee Amos Fallah Kpalia and Foya Statutory Superintendent Clarence Sandie presented the trophy on behalf of Liberia Football Association President Mustapha Raji and Francis Tamba director of women’s football development in Liberia at the LFA.

Speaking during the presentation Amos Kpalia extended gratitude to all the female teams that took part in the league and at the same time encouraged other teams wishing to participate in such initiatives to do so.

The Liberia Football Association Lofa County Sub-Committee acting chairman congratulated Gunners FC for winning the championship and also motivated the team to keep doing more as their success will help Lofa County develops a brilliant female soccer team for further participation in the National Counties Meet.

He extended heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the LFA and all of his colleagues at the level of Lofa Sub-Association and encouraged his co-officials to continue contributing to growth and development of Liberian Football.

Speaking to reporters after the presentation Gunners FC President Abdul Jibba, explained that he was excited to see his team participate in the league, while mentioning that the event has brought much enthusiasm to his team, District, and the county at large.

Jibba noted that it wasn’t an easy journey for his girls land the championship to Foya statutory District

The Gunners FC president used the medium to extend his earnest thanks and appreciation to the Liberia Football Association for organizing such an initiative in Lofa County and recommended to the FA to continue organizing competitions of such nature for the betterment of women’s football advancement in Liberia.
