Covid-19 cases surge in Cote d’Ivoire, everyone age 18 upward to be vaccinated

Health authorities in Cote d’Ivoire say  on Wednesday, December 29, 2021,  they recorded 1,502 new cases of Covid-19, the highest in recent days.

The country’s  Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage  said the number was from out of 5,348 samples taken, 28.1% of positive cases, 47 cured and 1 death.

As of December 29, 2021, Côte d’Ivoire has 66,568 confirmed cases, including 61,424 people recoveries , 708 deaths and 4,436 active cases.

The Ministry  indicated that the total number of samples is 1,221,161 have been tested so far.

It can be record that on December 28, 75,879 vaccine doses were administered and 7,030,231 doses from March 1 to December 28, 2021.

Liberia Public Radio National Correspondent in Ivory quotes health officials as calling on every person 18 year and above to be vaccinated in vaccination centers.

Our correspondent said the government of Cote d’Ivoire is encouraging the population of the country to take advantage of the vaccination against COVID-19, which is free and voluntary.

Millions of people thousands of people around the West African regions including Ivory Coast have been killed by the deadly Covid-19 virus since the disease first hit in February 2020
