Zwedru – The Grand Gedeh County Detachment of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has launched a community cleanup and road rehabilitation campaign in preparation for the June 26 observance of International Drugs Day, celebrated globally under the theme: “Strengthening Communities for a Drug-Free Liberia.”

Speaking at the launch, LDEA Grand Gedeh Commander, Special Agent Milton Howard, emphasized that the initiative seeks not only to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse but also to foster community development and safety.

Commander Howard revealed that Moses P. Harris Street in Zwedru was chosen for rehabilitation due to its deteriorated condition, which has been linked to frequent motorcycle accidents.

He noted that improving the road will enhance safety for both residents and commercial motorcyclists, adding that the project has already received encouraging support from community members.

The cleanup and rehabilitation drive is part of a series of activities organized by the LDEA leading up to this year’s International Drugs Day. It underscores the agency’s commitment to public safety, community engagement, and the fight against drug abuse in Grand Gedeh County.
