The Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) has welcomed a delegation from the Africa Fire Mission to Liberia in a move aimed at strengthening cooperation, enhancing professional capacity, and improving the country’s fire prevention and emergency response systems.
The Director General of the Liberia National Fire Service, Col. G. Warsuwah Barvoul Sr., officially received the delegation on Sunday evening upon their arrival in Monrovia, describing the visit as a significant opportunity to deepen international collaboration in the firefighting sector.
Welcoming the team, Director General Barvoul assured the delegation of Liberia’s full support throughout their stay and encouraged them to consider the country their second home.
“This visit represents an important step toward building stronger partnerships that will contribute to the growth and modernization of the Liberia National Fire Service,” Barvoul said.
He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration, knowledge exchange, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives to further strengthen the skills and operational readiness of LNFS personnel.
According to the Director General, strategic partnerships with international firefighting and emergency response organizations are critical to advancing professional training, improving institutional capacity, and enhancing the effectiveness of fire prevention and disaster response efforts across Liberia.
Barvoul also expressed appreciation to the Africa Fire Mission for choosing to engage with Liberia, noting that the partnership has the potential to deliver long-term benefits for the country’s emergency services sector.
The visiting delegation includes José Njuki Imwe Ngunjiri of Kenya, as well as John Butler, Nancy Moore, Dave Moore, and Tim Baker from the United States. The team is expected to engage with LNFS leadership and personnel on issues related to fire safety, technical cooperation, training, and organizational development.
The visit underscores the Liberia National Fire Service’s commitment to building strategic international partnerships that support the development of a modern, professional, and well-equipped fire service capable of effectively responding to emergencies and protecting lives and property across the country.
